The 26th PAT Scientific Conference brings together paediatricians, researchers, policymakers, and child health advocates from across East Africa and beyond. Set in the beautiful lakeside city of Mwanza — hosted at Malaika Beach Resort on the shore of Lake Victoria — this three-day event will feature cutting-edge research presentations, interactive workshops, and collaborative discussions.

Our theme — "Resilient Health Systems for Every Child: Innovation, Equity and Quality of Care" — reflects the urgent need to build resilient, equitable health systems that ensure every child has access to quality healthcare. Malaika Beach Resort · Mwanza, Tanzania

Known as "Rock City," Mwanza is Tanzania's second-largest city, situated on the southern shores of Lake Victoria. The conference venue offers modern facilities with stunning views of the lake. Mwanza is accessible via direct flights from Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, and other regional hubs.

Getting There

Mwanza Airport (MWZ) receives daily flights from Dar es Salaam (1.5 hrs). International connections via Julius Nyerere International Airport or Jomo Kenyatta, Nairobi.

A range of hotels are available near the conference venue, from luxury lakeside resorts to comfortable budget options. Special rates will be announced closer to the event.

Visa Information

Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival or apply online via the Tanzania Immigration eVisa portal. We can provide invitation letters upon registration.

Travel Tips

  • Currency: Tanzanian Shilling (TZS). USD widely accepted.
  • Time zone: East Africa Time (EAT, UTC+3).
  • Weather in July: Dry season, 20-28°C. Light jacket recommended for evenings.
  • Airport transfers and local transport will be coordinated for delegates.

The conference is designed for paediatricians, neonatologists, paediatric sub-specialists, general practitioners, nurses, midwives, medical students, researchers, public health professionals, and policymakers working in child health. International delegates are welcome.
Registration will be available through the PAT website. PAT members enjoy discounted rates. Early bird registration opens in March 2026 with reduced fees until May 30, 2026. You will need to create an account or log in to complete your registration and payment.
Abstract submissions will open in March 2026 via the conference portal. Abstracts should align with one of the four conference tracks. Both oral and poster presentations are accepted. Submissions must be in English, with a maximum of 300 words. The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2026.
Most nationalities can obtain a Tanzania visa on arrival or apply in advance through the eVisa portal. EAC citizens (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, South Sudan) do not require a visa. Upon registration, PAT can provide an official invitation letter to support your visa application.
Yes. The conference is accredited for Continuing Medical Education (CME) / Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. Certificates of attendance with CME points will be issued to all registered delegates who attend the full conference.
A list of recommended hotels near the conference venue will be shared with registered delegates. Options range from lakeside resorts to mid-range and budget hotels. Special negotiated rates may be available — details will be announced closer to the conference dates.
Cancellations made more than 30 days before the conference are eligible for a full refund minus a processing fee. Cancellations within 30 days may receive a partial refund or credit toward a future PAT event. No-shows are not eligible for refunds. Please contact the PAT secretariat for specific cases.
