Terms and Conditions
The terms and conditions governing membership, event registration, and use of the PAT platform.
Last updated: 21 August 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of paed.tz and the PAT member portal (together, the "Platform"), operated by the Paediatric Association of Tanzania ("PAT", "the Association", "we", "us"), a registered society with its head office at Malik Road, West Upanga Ward, Ilala District, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (P.O. Box 65370, Dar es Salaam). By creating an account, applying for membership, registering for an event, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. Who May Use the Platform
Membership is open to qualified paediatricians and, as associate members, other health workers and individuals involved in child health, in accordance with the eligibility criteria set out in the PAT Constitution. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for membership or register for an event on the Platform, and the information you provide during registration must be accurate and kept up to date.
2. Membership
Membership is granted at the discretion of PAT, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for the relevant category. Membership fees and any applicable joining fee are set by PAT and are shown at the time of application. Membership expires on 31 December of the year for which it was paid and must be renewed for continued access to member benefits. PAT may suspend or terminate a membership in accordance with the Constitution, including where a member ceases to meet the qualifying criteria or fails to observe their obligations as a member.
3. Events and Conference Registration
Registration for a PAT conference, workshop, or other event is confirmed once the applicable registration fee has been paid in full, unless PAT agrees otherwise in writing. Registration fees are non-refundable, except where PAT cancels the event, in which case registered attendees will be offered a refund or credit toward a future event at PAT's discretion. PAT reserves the right to change an event's date, venue, or programme, or to cancel an event, where circumstances require it.
4. Payments
Payments for membership, event registration, and donations are processed through AzamPay (mobile money and card payments) or, where offered, by bank transfer with proof of payment uploaded for verification. You agree to provide accurate payment information and are responsible for any charges levied by your bank or mobile-money provider. PAT is not responsible for delays or failures caused by your payment provider or network operator. Receipts are issued once a payment has been confirmed. Fraudulent, disputed, or reversed payments may result in suspension of the associated membership or registration.
5. Abstract Submission and Presentations
Where the Platform is used to submit an abstract or presentation for a PAT conference, you confirm that the submitted work is your own (or that you have the right to submit it on behalf of your co-authors), that it has not been submitted in violation of any other party's rights, and that it may be reviewed by PAT-appointed reviewers and, if accepted, presented and archived by PAT. Presentation materials uploaded to the Platform are made available to registered, logged-in attendees only and are not published publicly.
6. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your portal login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Platform to submit false or misleading information, to impersonate another person or entity, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or another user's data, or to interfere with the proper operation of the Platform.
8. Not Medical Advice
The Platform is an association and events management system for PAT's membership and is not a clinical or diagnostic tool. Nothing on the Platform constitutes medical advice, and it must not be used to store, transmit, or manage patient health information.
9. Intellectual Property
The PAT name, logo, and the content of this website (excluding materials you submit) are the property of the Paediatric Association of Tanzania or its licensors and may not be reproduced without our prior written consent. By submitting an abstract, photo, or other material to the Platform, you grant PAT a non-exclusive licence to use, reproduce, and display that material in connection with PAT's activities, publications, and event archives.
10. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information in connection with the Platform is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we take reasonable care to keep the Platform accurate, secure, and available, we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PAT shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Platform, except where such liability cannot be excluded under Tanzanian law.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or for legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the Platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Consistent with the PAT Constitution, disputes should first be raised with PAT for resolution through negotiation or mediation; unresolved matters may be referred to the Registrar of Societies and, ultimately, to the courts of Tanzania.
